Corporate magicians serving Vancouver and British Columbia
Vancouver is one of Western Canada's busiest corporate event markets. National conferences, technology summits, professional associations and brand activations all need performers who can work inside a production schedule rather than around it.
The performers below are regularly booked across downtown Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Surrey, Whistler, Victoria and Vancouver Island, in ballrooms, convention centres, hotels and corporate campuses.
How this list was put together
Corporate events make different demands than private parties or theatre shows. A performer can be brilliant on stage and still be the wrong booking for a conference banquet with a fixed run of show.
Everyone here was included on corporate-relevant criteria: proven experience at business events, the ability to work inside a professional timeline, formats that suit a business audience, and a reputation for turning up prepared. This is not a ranking of who is the best magician. It is a guide to who fits which room.
The performers
Bro Gilbert
Twenty-plus years across corporate events, galas and Christmas parties in the Lower Mainland. Genuinely versatile: sleight of hand, comedy and mentalism in one cohesive act, which is rarer than it sounds since most performers lean into one lane. Best for galas, holiday parties and award nights where the crowd is mixed and the entertainment has to work for everyone.
Kel Modern Magic
That's me. Close-up magic, a 45 to 60 minute stage show, and MC hosting from one performer, built for conferences, award nights and executive audiences where the schedule matters as much as the show. Twenty-five years, around 140 events a year. Best when you want one vendor covering the whole evening instead of three.
Chris Yuill
Performs both close-up and stage, which gives planners flexibility depending on how the evening is structured. Less comedy-forward than some, which suits formal corporate rooms where the entertainment should read polished rather than raucous. Best for banquets and multi-format evenings that need one performer across cocktails and a seated program.
Rob Teszka
An Associate Member of the Inner Magic Circle in London, with close to a decade performing in England before returning to BC. Intellectual, story-driven magic with an academic background in the psychology of it, and he produces Vancouver's only monthly magic variety show. Best for boutique events, gallery openings and clients who want an experience rather than a performance.
John Ha
Close-up and stage, with an easy way with an audience that works well in social corporate settings. Performs within the Kel Modern Magic network on events that need a second skilled performer for a larger venue or simultaneous rooms. Best for company functions and mixed-format events where flexibility is the priority.
What makes a magician corporate-ready
The difference between a magician who works at corporate events and a corporate magician is mostly invisible until something goes wrong. Can they start late because dinner ran long, and still land the show? Do they carry their own insurance certificate naming your venue? Will they check the run of show before the day, or ask you what time they're on when they arrive?
Ask about material as well as skill. A corporate room contains your clients, your executives and someone's spouse. Volunteers should be made to look good, never used as the punchline, and nothing should need explaining to HR on Monday.
Close-up magic versus a stage show
Close-up, during a reception
Worked one small group at a time, in guests' hands. Scales with room size rather than against it, needs no stage, AV or setup, and does not compete with your program. Typically 1.5 to 2 hours of roaming coverage.
A stage show, after dinner
45 to 60 minutes for the whole room at once, timed around speeches and awards. Needs a performance space, a microphone and basic lighting. Best when the room is seated together and you want one shared moment rather than many small ones.

Straight answers
Most corporate bookings run $2,000 to $5,000 plus GST depending on format and guest count. For a typical event of 50 to 200 guests: $2,000 for cocktail hour close-up magic, $3,000 for the stage show, $4,000 for both. Over 200 guests books at $5,000 for full coverage. November and December are premium months and book the full evening only, at a flat $5,000.
