Can you MC in a serious corporate setting, or is it all comedy?

Both, and knowing which moment calls for which is the actual skill. Award presentations get gravitas, prize draws get energy, and the CEO's speech gets a clean, professional introduction. The comedy comes out where it belongs.

Do you write the event script or do we?

Either. Some clients hand me a full run sheet, some hand me a blank page. Most land in the middle: you tell me the moments that matter, I build the flow and we review it together before the event.

Can you handle a room of 300 or more people?

Yes. I've hosted and performed for rooms from 15 to several hundred, including national conference banquets and hotel ballroom galas.

What do you need from our venue?

For hosting and close-up magic, just a microphone. For the after-dinner show, I bring what I need. No green room, no rider drama.

Do you MC events where another entertainer is performing?

Yes. If you've booked a band or another act, I'll host the night and make them look great, with magic filling the gaps.

Sun Life's Excellence Cup, at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. A national awards banquet with VIP guests, a printed program and a head table. One person ran the agenda from the podium and performed the show after dinner. Adrian Fung, who booked it, described it as managing the evening's agenda with professional precision while simultaneously captivating our VIPs and guests, and added that Kelvin didn't just host the event, he elevated the entire experience.

One is a corporate awards night with a run of show, the other is a family banquet in two languages. Same job, and in both cases nobody had to hand the room from one person to another.

Weddings work the same way as the corporate nights. Couples book one voice to guide the reception and perform through the evening, so both families get a host who already knows the room instead of a stranger reading names off a card.

FAQ

Straight answers

Almost always less than two good vendors, and dramatically less coordination risk. When it's booked alongside performance in a full evening package, hosting is included, from $4,000 for a typical corporate event. Tell me about your event below and I'll give you one all-in number. In November and December, the full evening is the only format I book, at a flat $5,000, so factor that into a December date.
