A gala magician built for black tie rooms.
A gala has a program to protect: speeches, awards, a sponsor to thank at the right moment. Close-up magic through the reception, a stage show timed to the room, and hosting that keeps the whole evening on schedule.

Formal enough for the room, personal enough for the guests

A gala crowd is dressed up and paying attention to how the night is run. Close-up magic reads as sophisticated rather than loud, which is exactly the register a black tie room needs. It works the reception without competing with the program, and it gives your sponsors and VIPs a moment that has nothing to do with a silent auction paddle.
When the after-dinner show and the awards ceremony share one evening, timing is everything. I've run that handoff for national conference banquets and hotel ballroom galas, and I build the show around your program, not the other way around.
What it looks like at your gala

Reception close-up magic
While guests arrive and mingle before the program starts, close-up magic in their hands sets the tone for a premium evening before a single speech happens.

The after-dinner show
A 45 to 60 minute stage show, scheduled after dinner and before or after the awards, depending on your program.

MC hosting
Introductions, award presentations and transitions handled by the same person who's already performing, so nothing in the evening feels like a handoff.

Working the tables
Between courses, around the centrepieces, without moving a single place setting.
“Amazing magic tricks and great presence! We were lucky to have booked him for our Vancouver Aquarium winter gala.”

The case study worth reading

Sun Life's Excellence Cup, a national banquet with VIP guests, ran with Kel managing the evening's agenda while also performing the stage show. Read the full story on the case studies page for what that evening actually looked like.

A full appearance covering the reception and the after-dinner show runs from $5,000 for a larger formal event. A reception-only booking, close-up magic while guests mingle before the program, runs $2,000. Charity galas and fundraisers have their own lower tier: from $2,500 for two-hour reception coverage, from $4,000 for the full night. November and December are premium months and sell out first. Through that season I book the full evening only, at a flat $5,000, with no smaller packages.

The room in black tie. Still gasping.
