Client: MLT Aikins LLP Event: Annual partner and client appreciation event Date: October 8, 2026 Relationship: Fourth year in a row Entertainment: Strolling close-up magic for partners and clients
The simplest brief in corporate entertainment
Client appreciation events have one goal. Make the clients happy.
Nobody is trying to impress a boss. Nobody is checking a box for HR. The firm is hiring vendors and entertainment for one reason: to leave a great impression on the people they work for.
That makes my job simple. Deliver an epic experience, one group at a time.
Year four, with a new team
MLT Aikins has booked me for this event four years running. This year, the event was in new hands.
Nicole, who had organized it before, passed the torch to Megan and Amy. Both joined the firm in June. This was the biggest event either of them had ever been in charge of.
You'd never have known. They took great care of me from the moment I arrived.
That's the quiet value of a repeat vendor. New organizers don't have to wonder whether the entertainment will land. It's already been tested three times.
"I remember you"
Some guests recognized me right away. A few hadn't been able to attend last year, so it had been two years since we'd last met. They still remembered the magic.
Others had no idea I'd be there. Those are some of my favourite groups. No expectations, just a surprise in the middle of a conversation, and they were all in.
Both reactions mean the same thing for the firm. The clients are talking about the night, which is the whole point of an appreciation event.
A set downstairs
Don made sure nobody missed out. He sent me downstairs to hang out with three of the team, and I did a set just for them.
It's a small thing. It's also the kind of thing that tells you a lot about a firm's culture.
Why law firms book appreciation magic
- It works in a mingling room. Strolling close-up magic moves to the guests, so nobody has to stop talking and take a seat.
- It gives clients a story to take home. The magic happens in their hands, not on a stage across the room.
- It's low effort for organizers. One booking, no tech, no stage, and a performer who has done the room before.
- It builds year over year. By year four, guests remember me.
MLT Aikins is one of more than 20 law firms across Greater Vancouver that have booked me for client events, holiday parties and retreats. See how I work with law firms.
