By September for early December. Prime December dates are usually spoken for by mid-October, and through November and December the full evening books at a flat $5,000 plus GST, so the earlier you ask, the more dates you get to choose from.
By early August, December 3rd, 4th, and 5th were already gone on my calendar. November 27th is the last open Friday I have before things start filling in behind it too. That's not a sales pitch, that's just what happens every single year. Corporate holiday parties cluster into the same narrow window, and the companies that book early get first pick of dates, venues, and entertainers. The ones who wait until November are choosing from what's left.

How do you book a holiday party magician without the scramble?
Pick your date before you pick everything else. Venue, caterer, and entertainment all compete for the same handful of December nights. Whichever one you lock in first determines what's still available for the rest. If your date is flexible, lock in the entertainer first and build the rest of the night around it.
Decide the format early, not the headcount. You don't need a final RSVP count to book. You need a rough range and a sense of the shape of the night: mingling magic during cocktails, a stage show after dinner, or both. Headcount and final logistics can come later. The date is what disappears.
A hold is not a commitment, it's insurance. If you're 90% sure but waiting on sign-off, ask about placing a hold on the date. It costs nothing and it keeps your night from vanishing while budget approval works its way through finance.
Fridays and Saturdays go first. December Fridays and Saturdays are the most requested nights in this city, full stop. If your party has to land on one of those, treat it like a limited seat, because it is one. If you can be flexible, a Thursday or a late-November Friday opens up far more choice.
Book the entertainer that fits the room, not just the calendar. A holiday party isn't a stand-up set and it isn't a wedding reception. It needs someone who can work a crowded room during cocktails, read when the energy needs a lift, and still land a stage show after dinner when everyone's had a glass of wine and wants to be entertained, not lectured at. That's a specific skill set, and it's worth checking reviews and past corporate clients, not just availability.
